Event description

Come dance the elemental wave!

The theme for this dance is 'ReWilding in Concrete Jungles'.

ReWild - allowing our innate nature to take its course.

Living in cities can take us away from ourselves, and we can become disconnected and live out of step with the elements, paying little attention to the ground beneath our feet and our own body, the water that is life which connects us to the flow of our innate rhythm, the fire that warms and provides the catalyst to manifest our visions, the air that surrounds us both within and without and the ether cradling all in universal love and wisdom.

The invitation is to embody your innate nature whether moving to city toons or tribal beats and through the alchemy of this movement meditation ReWild yourself in a city landscape.

You will be guided through a 90 minute elemental movement wave based on the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. I provide a safe and dynamic space to explore your own body sensations and emotions, while connecting with the group energy. We always begin with a powerful theme, and end with a circle where everyone is welcome to share any insights/wisdom received in the dance.

10.15am: warm-up

10.40am: opening circle

10.50am: elemental wave

12.15pm: harvesting of wisdom received from the dance

12.30pm: closing circle

Everyone is welcome, from experienced dancers who want to deepen their practice to those who have never danced before.

Dancing Freedom is a somatic elemental dance practice and a movement meditation where we use movement as medicine. It also embraces ritual and ceremony to connect with self, others and community. Through the inward journey of Dancing Freedom, we make our way through the darkness and carve a new pathway for our selves, our community and the world.

Indigenous cultures have long recognised that the elements that are

outside of us are also within us and believed that connecting with their energies helps create a more balanced life, living in greater harmony with nature.

And the dance is great fun!
