Dancing through Discomfort

From emotional reactivity to emotional resilience

Saturday August 8, 6-8 pm
At The Hive in Chimacum, WA
In collaboration with Dance Church, following at 8 pm!

A 2-hour experiential workshop for bodies ready to feel and heal

As beautiful as our values and intentions may be, many of us still carry old patterns of emotional reactivity that prevent us from gracefully navigating challenges in our relationships and communities. By bringing awareness to these patterns and learning how to tend to them, we can meet these hard moments with more empowered choice and emotional resilience.

In this 2-hour workshop, facilitated by Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Lux Gypsum, you'll explore your inherited patterns of interpersonal emotional reactivity and discover how they can be transformed through embodied awareness, movement, and self-compassion.

Designed for dancers who already know how to move energy through the body, this workshop offers a somatic approach to healing and growth that allows us to access deeper personal transformation than we can reach by simply talking about our challenges.

Through guided reflection, partnered exercises, and embodied practices, you'll become familiar with your body's protective responses and be invited to express them through dance—bringing movement and presence to places that may otherwise feel frozen, stuck, or overwhelming.

Together, we'll deepen our self-awareness, expand our emotional capacity, and practice meeting tension with curiosity and presence rather than reactivity. You will walk away from this workshop more empowered to hold your center and tend to your edges in the midst of life’s challenges.

What others are saying:

“I went from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’”

“I feel more free in my body now”

“I absolutely loved this workshop”

“I walked into the space with little hope for something I’ve been holding for far too long, and walked away with hope as the somatic density and memory left my body for the first time, ever.”

Energy Exchange:

This offering is valued at $60 and capped at 20 attendees.

This value is reflective of the potency of the container – I invite you to think of it as a worthy investment in your healing that is only half the price of a 1:1 Somatic Session.

If you cannot afford a General Admission ticket and the low-income tickets are sold out, you can email lux@healingrising.com to inquire about work trade options.

About the Facilitator:

Lux Gypsum (all pronouns) is a practical visionary, politicized healer, and relational educator who believes we can’t think our way into the world we long for—we have to embody it.

Because the body is both the site of our conditioning and the source of our liberation, they see embodied healing as essential to creating the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.

As a Somatic Coach, Facilitator, Mediator, and Consultant, Lux integrates years of training in Somatic Experiencing®, Conflict Transformation, and Group Facilitation to support individuals, couples, and communities in meeting challenge with greater presence, resilience, and care.

For over a decade, Lux has facilitated transformative workshops and community events that invite us into deeper authenticity, connection, and resilience. In all their work, Lux is trauma-informed and committed to uprooting supremacy culture, imperfectly.
