Dandenong Ranges Loop Hike – 12km
Step into the lush green heart of the Dandenong Ranges on this stunning 12km loop. This moderate trail offers a mix of gentle paths and steady inclines, rewarding you with sweeping forest views, towering mountain ash trees, and peaceful fern gullies along the way.
The track winds through some of the region’s most picturesque bushland, making it one of the most scenic loops in the ranges. Expect a few climbs that will get the heart rate up, balanced by long stretches of tranquil walking where you can simply take in the magic of the forest.
Perfect for those wanting a moderate challenge without being too technical, this hike is all about slowing down, connecting with nature, and soaking up the beauty of Victoria’s iconic ranges.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE WALK:

WHAT TO BRING:
- Water (at least 1.5 Litres)
- Snack. Ie: Banana, high protein snack, Jam sandwich.
- Electrolyte energy drink
WHAT TO WEAR:
- A good pair of walking shoes is necessary, which could be hiking shoes or boots. It is recommended to avoid jogging runners as they may not provide enough grip, although it is not a strict requirement. No open toe shoes.
- Decent socks. Ie: a mix of wool, nylon & elastane. Non bulky (Visit hiking stores)
- Compact jacket
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This walk is NOT suitable for children under 14, babies in carriers or for people who do not walk more than 5km’s at a time. This is a National Park, therefore no dogs or animals allowed.
