Introduction to Large Format Photography

Never used a large format film camera?
This introductory workshop covers the basics of Large Format photography.Participants will gain experience with both field (Graflex Super Graphic 4×5 camera) and monorail cameras (Sinar Norma Monorail 5x7 studio camera). Hand-held light metering methods will be also explained.

This workshop focuses on how to shoot black and white film with a large format film camera. Medium format photography offers many advantages over 35mm photography, not the least is the significant increase in detail and definition provided by the larger negative-approximately 4 times that of a 35mm negative-depending on the medium format camera used.Dark Arts Photography and Darkroom will supply large format cameras for you to use during this workshop. In this introductory workshop we will be using a Graflex Super Graphic(5x4) Press/Field camera and a Sinar Norma Monorail camera(5x7 or 5x4)
