Darlings Kiva Fundraiser 2025 and early Christmas celebration

Join the Rotary Club of Sydney Darling Harbour “The Darlings” for an evening of good food, fun, fellowship and fundraising at The Apprentice TAFE restaurant in Ultimo, and help support our Kiva account.

Three Courses for Three Reasons...

By supporting The Darlings Christmas dinner you’ll be contributing to three impactful causes/ reasons at once:

1. Supporting aspiring hospitality students by enjoying a delicious meal crafted by the next generation of culinary talent.
2. Raising funds for The Darling's Kiva account, to be able to increase our micro-finance lending ability to lend to women to provide them a hand up to develop their small businesses.
3. Celebrate Christmas early, by wearing your most festive Christmas attire.

Kiva

Kiva is an organisation which connects people seeking micro-finance loans to improve their quality of life. Since The Darling's Kiva account has been created in 2011, we have made nearly $85,000USD worth of loans and impacted over 10,000 lives in 89 countries. We mostly lend to women (95% of our loans) as on average, if you lend to women over 95% of the income will be used to support the family (compared to 70% if lent to men) 

Many women face barriers to accessing traditional financial services due to legal, social, and gender norms. Kiva loans are an entry point into the financial system, offering women an opportunity to build credit and invest in their futures — lifting those barriers and driving gender equity forward. But it’s not just about gender equity. Increasing women’s economic independence is critical for all our futures. When women participate in their local economies, great things happen: poverty decreases, development increases, economies grow, and children are healthier, happier, and more educated.

The benefit to donating to this project, is that the funds will go to increase our overall funds in our Kiva account that can be lent again and again, once the loans are repaid. 

The dinner will be held at the apprentice restaurant in Ultimo from 6pm to 8.30pm. The cost will be $70 which includes a 3 course meal.
