Das Gespenst von Canterville (The Canterville Ghost)
Description
The German Drama company is back for another year! This year's production is titled: “Das Gespenst von Canterville", with the English version of the title being "The Canterville Ghost".
The ghost of Lord Habakuk, who haunts the old English country estate under the infamous name "The Ghost of Canterville", no longer understands the world. Since Mr Northstate bought the castle and moved in with his wife and children, the ghost's centuries-old intimidation methods methods of intimidation have only been able to frighten the housekeeper. The unshakably matter-of-fact family treats the ghost with insulting indifference. Indeed, the clever eldest son and the disrespectful twins turn the tables and play one prank after another on the unfortunate ghost. Only the daughter Virginia shows him sincere compassion. She succeeds in redeeming Sir Habakuk's restless spirit. Based on the novella by Oscar Wilde, the play, with its sharply outlined characters and its ironic humour mixed with movingly serious undertones towards the end, is a fantastic experience for young people and adults alike.
The production is a super fun experience, open to all levels of German, with English surtitles. Come see this play, fully in German, to practice your language skills or brag about how cultured you are.
The total run time of the play will be around 1.5 hours.
