Data4Good, is a way for people to contribute to the betterment of society through the use of data science.
Every day there are petabytes of data being created and collected and as we have recently seen not all of this data is being used to improve people’s lives or the society in which we live. There is so much negative press around the use of big data that organisations and individuals are losing sight of how they could harness all of this data for the betterment of society.
We are a group of passionate data professionals who want to share our passion for changing the world in which we live. The Data4Good Movement first started in 2011 with Data Kind in New York City and has spread around the world. We wanted to put a spotlight on this movement in Australia by putting together a Data4Good Australia Conference to educate and support Australian businesses and individuals in their pursuit of data for good. This conference will bring together thought leaders and passionate advocates of the Data4Good Movement from across the globe, sharing real life cases where data has been used to better society.
