Event description

Join Artspace studio artist and practicing lawyer Shevaun Wright and Kris Wilson for a discussion of the multiple intersections of data and Indigenous sovereignty. Drawing from their expertise in ICIP and Artificial Intelligence, criminalisation theory and cybersecurity, Wright and Wilson will explore how First Nations cultural objects and knowledge circulate in a digital context, the challenges that new technologies present to Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP), and the broader the ethical, legal, and practical issues that communities currently face in ensuring possession and protection of their data. As part of the program series for Amongst the clouds, this discussion recognises data as a force that shapes our life, impacting everything from the mundane to the sacred.
