Welcome to the DWG July School Holiday clinic. Over an action packed morning all the young keepers will learn about the various techniques required to improve as a young goalkeeper.
Techniques covered:
- Shot stopping from various angles
- Distribution techniques
- Dealing with the back pass
- Plus, much more!
What you need to know:
Venue:Â Murdoch University Sports Oval - Synthetic Pitch 2. Changing rooms are available.
When:Â 10th July 2024
Time: 8 am – 12 noon.Â
Ages : 9 yrs - 16 yrs
Please bring shin pads, plenty of fluid, sun cream, healthy snack, and a good attitude!
The clinic starts at 8am sharp, so please arrive 15 minutes prior to start and be ready to start at 8am!
About the Murdoch University Artificial Pitch
- There are changing rooms available.
- There is plenty of parking around the venue.
- It is advisable to wear long training pants and tops during the clinic.

About Dave Whalley Goalkeeping (DWG)
DWG is a leading provider of goalkeeping coaching to several clubs, schools, and individuals in Western Australia. These sessions cover playing levels from grassroots, amateur, NPL goalkeepers to the professional level along with running ‘Coaching the coaches’ sessions.
Designed to create the best learning environment, our goalkeeping clinics are run by Dave Whalley and assisted by FFA qualified coaches who have been mentored using the DWG methods. The sessions provide age appropriate coaching to maximise each goalkeeper’s potential. They also encourage essential social skills along with understanding the importance of respect and of giving 100% effort in every session.
Dave Whalley Goalkeeping provides ongoing private and group goalkeeper coaching sessions during the week at John Curtin School Oval in Fremantle and Rosalie Park in Subiaco.
Over 50 aspiring goalkeepers attend these sessions on a weekly basis.
About Dave Whalley
Dave Whalley's goalkeeping career began as an apprentice at Blackburn Rovers in 1983. He continued to play semi-professional football for 16 years before relocating to Perth, where he has been coaching goalkeepers since 2002. Dave is deeply committed to helping aspiring goalkeepers of all ages and abilities reach their full potential, striving to elevate each goalkeeper to the highest level of play possible.
Since establishing Dave Whalley Goalkeeping (DWG) as a business in 2017, Dave takes great pride in the achievements and outcomes of his coaching. The results at DWG reflect the meticulous attention to detail and methodical approach he applies to the development of goalkeepers.
Dave's objective is to sustain strong relationships with all goalkeepers and coaches, ensuring an optimal learning environment. He holds an FFA Advanced Level 2 Goalkeeping license, and continuously updates his skills and knowledge through weekly mentoring sessions with a UK-based professional goalkeeping coach.
Dave Whalley's Track Record: Cultivating Elite Talent in Goalkeeping
- South Coast Baptist College Football Academy: Served as the Head of Goalkeeping, shaping young talents into skilled players.
- Inglewood United (NPL Club): Over seven years as Goalkeeping Coach, notably coaching Alex Dunn, who has been awarded WA NPL Goalkeeper of the Year for three consecutive seasons.
- Subiaco Teams: Goalkeeping coach for the junior and women’s teams competing in the WA State League.
- Individual Coaching Achievements: Conducts weekly sessions with notable goalkeepers including former Pararoos international Chris Barty, Junior Matilda and Melbourne Victory's Miranda Templeman, and Zara Board who is currently on a goalkeeping scholarship in the USA and a previous Junior Matilda.
- Perth Glory:Â Goalkeeping coach for England International Karly Telford and current Matilda's goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold.
- Developing Future Stars: Many young goalkeepers starting at DWG have been recognised and invited to attend prestigious soccer schools across Perth along with representing W.A.in the various State representative sides.
