Special day-long workshop with Jen Hardy: KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!

Everyone at Leeds Co-Lab went wild for Jen after she hosted a super-fun evening session on the theme of mischief back in August. Now she’s back by request to host a special one-off workshop in Leeds.

The theme for this workshop is keep calm and carry on.

Doing improv can be SCARY, and sometimes it can feel like our brain and our body aren't even in the same room.

For some, this makes us look like that bunny from the Duracell battery adverts - pacing up and down, foot-tapping and speaking so fast that even you can't understand what just came out your mouth. For others, it can look like you've accidentally put super glue on your shoes or worse, you look like if you move you might poop your pants.

During this session, Jen will guide us through helpful ways to channel your energy, ground yourself, and make you look and feel comfortable and confident whilst performing. There will be activities around characterisation, object work and measuring your own energy with your scene partner to get the most out of each other.

In the workshop, Jen will have us playing with levels of tension as well as practical stagecraft and rehearsal vs. performance.

About Jen Hardy

Jen has been performing improv since 2017 and teaching and coaching across the North-West since 2021. Teams she’s coached have gone on to perform to sell-out crowds, as well as secure spots at some of the country’s biggest improv festivals. She’s just returned from an incredible run at the Edinburgh Fringe with the family friendly show ‘The Incomplete Works of Shakespeare’ which received multiple 5 star reviews.

Jen improvises with Atom Improv, Regular Job, Rubbish Shakespeare and is an associate teacher at Liverpool Comedy Improv. And she’s a true improv pirate - big-hearted, bold and lightening quick, describing herself as able to ‘read 6 moves ahead in a scene!’ She’s a super-encouraging teacher (I did her scene building course last year), and an ENORMOUS presence on-stage.
