Every summer, musicians and fans gather in early August to celebrate the legacy of Jerry Garcia
(8/1/42-8/9/1995). With tribute events held all around the world, August 1-9 has been dubbed
the Days Between, named after the last song ever written by Garcia and lyricist Robert Hunter.
To deliver the full color spectrum of Garcia’s music, Essex has brought together two of upstate
New York’s hottest Grateful Dead tribute bands: Dark Hollow out of Syracuse and Rochester’s
own Eric Carlin’s Half-Dead. Don’t miss this one!

ERIC CARLIN'S HALF-DEAD:

Eric Carlin’s Half-Dead delivers an authentic Grateful Dead concert experience unrivaled in
western New York. No “close enough” renditions here. With five advanced music degrees
among the group, Eric and Co. dive deep into sonic detail to deliver accurate, dynamic
performances of hallmark sets from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Close your eyes… and your there!
What Deadheads are saying about ECHD:
"One of the best live music experiences I've had in a few decades! We all miss Jerry, and
y'all did him proud!"
"You guys sound amazing! Totally blown away by how full and precise you are sonically."
"Your performances have surpassed ‘show’ status. They’re actually ‘experiences’ now,
with each one a unique demonstration of outrageous talent across the entire band.”

DARK HOLLOW:

There’s nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.” Those old bumper stickers have seen a lot of mileage over the years. It was in the spirit of creating in the moment - the live concert experience, and a love of ‘The Great American Songbook’ that inspired the founding members of Dark Hollow to set out on their journey back in 1996. They’ve sought to carry on the Dead’s live tradition and tap into the collective band/crowd relationship that transforms ordinary moments into magic.

Dark Hollow is now entering their 25th year paying tribute to the music of the Grateful Dead. Known for their dynamic performances, the band crafts songs from the extensive Dead family catalog to create unique concert experiences. Their ability to move seamlessly between songs and musical styles enables them to tell a musical story that both honors the original song versions and allows the band members to create new interpretations. And when the special moments arrive, they aim to elevate the room and lift your collective feet off the ground. To tap into the energy between the band and the audience.

Anchored by founding members Mike Vincitore (Lead Guitar) and Mike O’Hara (Lead Vocals/Guitar), the band includes Jeff Roney (Drums), Pat Shaughnessy (Keys), Jack Jarvis (Drums), Mike Vertino (Bass)  and Mike Hamilton (Rhythm Guitar). Performances will often include guests from the band’s large network of fellow musicians. The band’s strong musical chemistry and individual talents set the backdrop for powerful vocal performances, soaring guitar and keyboard leads, backed by a powerful and versatile rhythm section that sets the groove.

The band has performed on bills with Moe., Melvin Seals and Terrapin Flyer, Vince Welnick, New Riders of The Purple Sage, Donna Jean Godchaux, and many more. They have self-produced a variety of standalone and themed concert events, including recent partnerships with Critz Farms and Sharkey’s in Central New York. They have and continue to work with venue promoters to create and participate in unique music events.
