Event description

Local First Nations community members of all ages, allies, and anyone working in health, wellbeing and medicine are invited to HMRI’s Imaging Centre to launch the Deadly Images Research Project!

Deadly Images is a HMRI community engagement event to bring local Aboriginal community members together with researchers (and others) to launch the Deadly Images Research Project in a way that strengthens relationships, builds trust, and demonstrates good research done ‘our way and on our terms’.

Why come? Medical Research Institutes and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines can be intimidating. Come and have a look inside our Imaging Centre, meet the HMRI team, and learn about what we do, and why we do it. HMRI exists to serve the community – so we want to welcome the community in!

The event will feature a Welcome to Country with a smoking ceremony, tours of HMRI, lunch, fun activities, and yarning (at HMRI's yarning circle)

When: Friday 19 July, 2024
Time: 10.00 am - 2.00 pm
Where: The Yarning Circle, Hunter Medical Research Institute. The Yarning Circle is located on the lawn adjacent to the HMRI Imaging Centre, Kookaburra Circuit, New Lambton Heights (the John Hunter Hospital Campus)

Free event! RSVP by clicking the "Get Tickets" button above.
Parking will be available in the HMRI car park - follow Kookaburra Circuit past the hospital to HMRI and simply use the intercom at the car park gate to say you're here for the Deadly Images event.
