Deaf Services - Deaf Awareness Training & Basic Auslan Signs

Every major National event / announcement, including news, concert, theatre etc is accompanied by an Auslan sign language interpreter.  This workshop is to engage active participation and promote inclusion in our local community through its representing organisations and advocates.

In the workshop we will cover:

• Basic Auslan signs – Greetings, finger spelling, numbers etc
• confidence when interacting with people who have a hearing loss
• Understanding of the different types of deafness
• Gain awareness of the impact of having a hearing loss
• Gain insight into the Deaf world, it’s community and culture
• Understanding the role and use of interpreters
