Death Cafe - Ashburton September
Description
A relaxed, friendly conversation about death, dying, and making the most of life.
Death Café is a worldwide movement that brings people together to talk openly about mortality in a safe, respectful and welcoming environment. There is no agenda, no presentations, and no pressure to speak, just thoughtful conversation over a cuppa.
Every Death Café is different. Discussions might explore topics such as ageing, funeral choices, death doulas, assisted dying, cultural perspectives, advance care planning, or simply what it means to live well.
Attendance is free but you must register for a spot at the table. Places are strictly limited to 8 attendees because meaningful conversation works best in a small group and when everyone has the opportunity to be heard. Please register only if you are committed to attending. If you can no longer make it, cancelling your registration promptly allows someone on the waitlist to take your place.
Please note: This is not a grief support group, counselling session, or therapy. If you are recently bereaved or looking for emotional support with grief, then it is with gentle kindness, that you are advised this is not the right place for you.
The Plantbased Pantry & Cafe is generously providing the space for us, so our method of thanks is to please purchase a drink or something from the café before we get started with our conversation.
Come along with curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to listen and share. Together we'll create a respectful, confidential space to talk about one of life's few certainties and perhaps leave with a greater appreciation for life itself.
Hosted by Justine Mowe, Holistic & Integrative therapist offering End of Life Doula support, through Wildflower Wellness.
This inaugural event coincides with this year's Dying Matters Week.
