DEATH CONVERSATIONS- PLANNING WORKSHOP
Event description
DEATH CONVERSATIONS
Join us for a series of free community events presented by The Dying Well podcast, hosted by Death Walker and artist Chi Chi Menendez, alongside special guests.
What Are "Death Conversations"?
"Death Conversations" was born from the desire to create an open space for discussions on death and dying, aiming to normalize these conversations and provide a platform for sharing valuable resources. Our goal is to contribute to death literacy within our communities.
At The Dying Well, our mission is to inform, inspire, and empower. Each conversation will explore different aspects of death and dying, followed by a Q&A and open discussions.
First Conversation: "Death Planning Matters"
In this first conversation, we’ll delve into end-of-life planning. Topics will include care, legacy, wishes, paperwork, and funeral arrangements. Being informed allows us to make empowered decisions, ensuring we make the best choices for ourselves and our loved ones.
Questions we’ll explore:
- How do we navigate paperwork?
- What documents are necessary?
- What options are available?
- What can we handle on our own, and where might we need support?
- What have we not considered yet?
- How do we want to be cared for?
During this workshop, we’ll discuss practical considerations and encourage creative, out-of-the-box thinking. You'll also receive a checklist of essential things to consider when planning for the end of life.
The goal isn't to leave with all the answers—although some of you might—but to begin asking important questions if you haven’t already. Together, we’ll work towards finding the right answers and gathering the necessary resources to support us on this journey.
We will also explore available resources and what actions we can take ourselves.
For those seeking grief care or services, we’ll highlight valuable initiatives and grief circles that are offering support to those in need. Check our Dying Well resource page for updated contacts, or reach out to us directly if you need assistance connecting with these groups.
