Event description

Interested in sharing your feelings about how society cares for nature in these challenging times?

Join us in December for a special end of year gathering of the Eco-Resiliency Circle as we welcome back Barkindji Song Woman Nancy Bates.

At the November gathering, Nancy worked with the group to write parts of a love song to mother earth. Expressing our grief through love as we overlooked the river at the beautiful Folklore Cafe.

Now it is time to come together to practice and sing the finished song and to celebrate all that we love in nature.

No musical ability or even being on-key required!

Nancy is a well known and well respected musician, performing nationwide, and her gigs in her Kaurna Country home have built an extremely enthusiastic fan base. You may have heard her work at the Sky Song show at the Fringe, or wherever music lovers gather. We’re pretty lucky! www.nancybates.com

You can also catch Nancy on stage at River Songs, as part of Dockside Festival, on Sunday 11 December at Gallery Yampu.

Please RSVP to attend as number are limited.

You are also encouraged to reach out to us if you have questions or want to be kept in the loop for future gatherings: hello@portenvironmentcentre.org.au or call 0488 229 925.

New people are very welcome and we welcome a range of people and value a diverse group.

The Eco-Resiliency circle is a participant-led group exploring how to express our pain and build hope in joyful togetherness.

Discussions and exercises are used to help strengthen the coping skills of the activist and concerned neighbour and sensitive soul, in part through shared expression of grief and movement forward. It’s not about problem solving or policy solutions; it’s about wellbeing and personal expression.

The Eco-Resiliency Circle is a volunteer led and community driven project, supported by the Port Environment Centre.

We emphasize that these sessions do not offer therapeutic help. We encourage you to access trained professional resources if you or someone you know might be interested or need it.
