This British comedy-drama is about a group of ten Cornish fishermen who sing sea shanties in their local harbour to raise money for charity. A jaded London music executive visiting Cornwall on a stag weekend, is pranked into attempting to get them to sign a record deal. However, he starts to connect with the music, and attempts to bring their singing to the world, all the while falling in love with daughter of one of the members. The film explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the strength of community. It is loosely based on the true story of the real band of the same name who achieved a top 10 hit with their debut album of traditional sea shanties.
