Decorated House Tours as part of Heurich Maker Month

Starting on Thursday, November 14th, the Heurich House Museum will offer 30 minute tours of the 1st floor of the historic house decorated for the holiday season. 

Explore the lives of turn-of-the-century Washingtonians on a tour of the historic home of brewer and immigrant Christian Heurich. Step back in time to the year 1894, and see things from the eyes of household staff, Heurich brewery workers, the craftspeople who built his home, the brewer himself, and his wife Amelia. 

Details: 

• Ticket are $5
  • Tickets for November tours are pre-purchase online only. 
  • Tickets for December tours can only be purchased onsite during Christmas Markt. 
• No children under 10 years of age
• Tour begins on time, late arrivals will not be accommodated
• No waitlist: what shows as available online is all that is available
• Biergarten opens at 4pm: Before or after your tour, enjoy a seasonal menu, firepits, and heaters

Our guides are graduate students or new museum professionals, and giving you a tour is part of their education. By attending this tour, you are supporting the museum’s Education Fellowship Program and helping us train future museum professionals!

This program is part Maker Month, a month-long celebration of local makers from November 15th to December 13th. The month culminates in the Heurich House Museum’s 12th annual Christmas Markt, which, for the first time, is happening for an entire week.

Maker Month & Christmas Markt are the museum’s largest annual fundraiser, and they provide a year’s worth of support to our Urban Manufacturing Incubator program. The Museum’s Incubator program builds upon the 130 year legacy of craftspeople and makers at the Heurich House - those who designed, built, and decorated the historic home, and those who the museum has helped over the last decade.
