Event description

DEEP IN THE WEEDS 2025 at DUNETOWN

We have been knocking on Blake Scott's door for a while now so were super excited to announce that he will headline Deep in the Weeds Festival on Saturday 19 July (the closing weekend of the 2025 EGWF)

"A pub-punk frontman known for acerbic character studies, Blake Scott specialises in prodding and puncturing the clichés of Australian culture. After all, his band The Peep Tempel made its name with the 2014 anthem Carol: a shout-along exaggeration of blokey masculinity that introduced the cult Melbourne trio to dramatically wider audiences and subsequently racked up more than a million plays on Spotify.

With that band on hiatus since late 2017, Scott has re-emerged as a solo artist. And though he is again leading a three-piece band with a robust focus on lyrical detail and scenery-chewing vocal turns, his debut album explores his favoured themes in looser, weirder ways. Unmoored from The Peep Tempel’s standout rhythm section of drummer Steven Carter and bassist Stewart Rayner (who now play in the spacious yet noisy Shepparton Airplane), Scott mostly eschews his erstwhile band’s muscular drive to instead stretch out and hold forth like the unreliable narrator he’s always been." FAQ

 Q. Are children welcome? Kids at 𝑫𝑬𝑬𝑷 𝑰𝑵 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑾𝑬𝑬𝑫𝑺 25 We usually get a heap of enquires about bringing kids to DITW! So here is our policy, while it’s not a strictly over 18’s only gig, it is also NOT designed for all ages!

A. It is best to contact us prior to a show if you would like your kids to attend.

Children must:

(1) Not be feral

(2) Be supervised at all times

(3) Hearing protection should be considered for young children.

We require tickets for children over 10 years old as tix are limited and kids are zombies as well (I mean human bodies) and we kindly advise that a babysitter would be better for under that age group. 🖤💀

Q. Are Dogs welcome?

A. Usually yes but not at the weeds event

Q. Do we allow camping on site?

A. NO we are not set up for camping on site, it can be very boggy and to protect our environment we are going to say no this time, however we do recommend that you stay at Marlo which has 2 caravan parks or Cape Conran which has many sites all with toilet facilitys, there will be a shuttle going between the Marlo & Cape Conran during the night.
