Event description

Join us next Saturday at the opening of Deep Material Energy III, curated by Heather Galbraith.

Deep Material Energy III brings together eight artists from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia whose jewellery/object practices showcase a deep connection with and curiosity about materials. Works use found and recycled materials, including gleaning components from the city streets, regional landscapes, op shops and scrap metal merchants. They explore and recontextualise cultural and political resonances.

This exhibition features works by Cara Johnson, Inari Kiuru, Claire McArdle, Kelly McDonald, Victoria McIntosh, Neke Moa, Rowan Panther and Lisa Waup.

From 3PM, join us at RMIT Gallery for an introductory discussion with the curator and participating artists who will reflect on their contemporary and sustainable jewellery practices, followed by a celebration with the RMIT Galleries community.

This exhibition has been produced by RMIT University at RMIT Gallery with the support of Toi Rauwharangi College of Creative Arts, Massey University. It is presented as part of the Radiant Pavilion Contemporary Jewellery and Object Biennial.
