Deepening Awareness
Event description
This non-residential retreat will deepen your experience of mindfulness meditation (satipatthana). Mindfulness leads to insight (vipassana), deep seeing into the nature of experience. We will cultivate mindfulness through stillness, movement and the ordinary activities of daily life.
The days will consist of meditation instruction, meditation periods, a dharma talk and an opportunity for questions and group discussion. ‘Noble silence’ will be observed, apart from periods of instruction or discussion and any other necessary communications.
Suitable for beginners and those familiar with mindfulness meditation.
About the teachers
Patrick Kearney has practised in the Zen and Theravada traditions for over 40 years. He has a particular interest in the original teachings of the Buddha, before “Buddhism” was invented, and applies them to everyday life in the contemporary world.
Emma Pittaway is a regular teacher at the Kuan Yin Meditation Centre. Inspired by the Buddha and his followers, who lived and meditated in the forest, she draws on the natural world to support her practice, and teaches an open 'natural awareness' approach .
