Deepening our Insights - Retreat with Dr Gordon Neufeld
Description
This retreat is exclusive for those who have completed at least the Neufeld Institute Intensive One - Making Sense of Kids Course.
We have very limited capacity at the venue so it definitely will book out so please register early to avoid disappointment
It is a unique opportunity to spend two days hearing from Dr Neufeld and engaging in conversations with others while enjoying the beautiful Kimi Ora Eco Resort in Kaiteriteri.
Dr Neufeld will deepen our understanding of the developmental approach during the morning teaching sessions.
He will explore what often gets in the way of seeing from this developmental lens, including the influence of behavioural frameworks, medicalised interpretations, cognitive approaches, diagnostic labels and attachment style typologies.
Later in the day, participants will be welcomed into dedicated Q&A sessions with Dr Neufeld—unhurried spaces where your questions can be given the space they need and deeper insights can unfold.
There will also be gentle opportunities to connect with others who share a deep interest in this material and its expression in homes, schools, professional settings and community.
The afternoons will be free to enjoy the beautiful Kaiteriteri, have some rest time or connect with others.
Evening gatherings for informal connecting with others over a hot chocolate are also included.
Important Information
Days of Retreat
While the actual retreat is Thursday and Friday, you will most likely need to arrive Wednesday evening and leave Saturday morning unless you have your own transport. The retreat will start officially 9am Thursday morning and conclude with a Friday evening dinner and session.
Transport
As Kaiteriteri is approximately an hour from Nelson airport, we will provide a free return bus from Nelson airport to Kimi Ora Resort on Wednesday 2 September leaving the airport at 5.20pm
The bus will then depart Kimi Ora Resort on Saturday 5 September at 10am to return to the airport.
Please make sure that you take note of this when booking flights to allow enough time to connect with this service e.g. not booking a flight that leaves before 12 pm on Saturday
Accomodation
Accomodation is not included in the retreat price - but there is a wide variety of options available to you that can work with your preferences and budget.
Stay right where everything is happening. Included in your accomodation price is a buffet breakfast each morning and access to the pools, spa and sauna. Walking tracks are at the resort including a night track to see the glow worms. My advice is to book asap
You will not be able to book this online as they have blocked all accomodation out for our retreat - phone or email them.
When you book just let them know that you are coming for the Neufeld Aotearoa Retreat
This is close to Kimi Ora and they have a range of accomodations available including a couple of houses if you have a group coming and are needing some affordable accomodation.
Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve
This is right across the road from Kaiteriteri beach and they have a wide range of accomodation available ranging from standard cabins to apartments. About a 20 minute walk away.
Meals
During the retreat morning tea will be served both Thursday and Friday as well as a buffet vegetarian dinner on Friday evening.
If you book accomodation at Kimi Ora Resort that will include breakfast as well. If not staying there you can book in and pay separately for breakfast if you would like to.
Other meals are your responsibility.
The vegetarian restaurant at Kimi Ora is open on Thursday evening if you would like to book in for that.
Unfortunately this restaurant is not open Wednesday evening when you arrive - however the Beached Whale Restaurant
in Kaiteriteri will be open for dinner or takeaways - or alternatively come prepared with some food for your dinner. We are asking the bus to stop briefly at a supermarket along the way for you to gather any supplies you might need for while you are here.
There is also a convenience store in Kaiteriteri as well as a cafe across from the beach which is open during the day (e.g. for lunch, etc )
