Deeper Resources for Change Making: Practices and Insights for an expanded form of Activism
Event description
Most of us have a sense that the world is not as it should be. While some resign themselves to that, others put their energy into changing the world.
However... “What if the way we respond to the crisis is part of the crisis?” - Bayo Akomolafe
In this collaborative workshop between Initiatives of Change Australia and Cornerstone Melbourne, we will be holding the deep inquiry of what it means to be a creator of meaningful change in such a complex and entangled world.
What will be covered?
This workshop will be an offering of insights, stories and practices to create foundations for a more enriched and sustainable form of change making and activism.
It will be experiential, psycho-educational, and thought-provoking.
A guiding inquiry for us will be: How might we respond to the challenges of this world without perpetuating those very challenges? We will be exploring the range of emotions that change makers experience such as anger, despair, overwhelm, apathy and burnout. We will be inquiring into the shadow of the psyche, and exploring where our deepest motivations for change making may come from. And all of this will be held within a systemic and ecological view of life.
We will be drawing wisdom from the life of Mahatma Gandhi, the philosophies of Bayo Akomolafe, Jungian Psychology, and complex systems theory.
Join us as we find deeper resources for change making.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- A psycho-educational and insightful workshop to expand your understanding of change making in this world
- A balance of theory and practice
- Warm cups of tea
