As part of the Geelong Small Business Festival 2026 Cranham and Co will be supporting leaders and small business owners to delegate with confidence.

Delegation is one of the most important leadership skills in any small business, yet it is often the first thing to break down when pressure rises. When deadlines are tight and stress levels are high, many leaders fall into the habit of doing it themselves, often believing it will be quicker, easier, or done to a higher standard.

This practical workshop will explore why leaders struggle to delegate and what effective delegation looks like in practice. It will unpack common barriers including lack of trust, low confidence, unclear expectations, and the belief that no one else will do it properly.

Participants will be introduced to a simple framework for delegating more effectively through trust, communication and accountability. The session will cover how to build rapport, clarify expectations and outcomes, define success, identify risks early, assess capability and support needs, set deadlines and milestones, and establish useful check-in points.

When delegation is done well, it does more than lighten the load. It develops people, strengthens teams, and improves business outcomes.
