Dr Stephanie Downes – Director Deloitte Climate & Sustainability

Based in Hobart, Stephanie is a global climate expert who works with businesses across infrastructure, government, mining, industrials, finance, health, consumer goods, energy and other sectors in understanding climate risks and opportunities and how to implement associated solutions business-wide that also tie into sustainability ambitions. She has been working in the climate space for 18 years in academia, government and private sectors, and has coordinated and contributed to expert reviews on, for example, peer-reviewed science, IPCC reports, TCFD scenario guidance, government climate strategies in Australia and globally. Stephanie holds an Associate Researcher role at the University of Tasmania, has a PhD in Oceanography & Climate Science, and was previously the Principal Climate Scientist for NSW government. She is currently a member on the Australian Academy of Science National Committee for Earth System Science, the University of New South Wales Climate Change Research Centre Advisory Board, and the Deloitte global Expert Advisory Panel on Sustainability & ESG.
