Speakers
Michael Dreyer
Deputy Chief Executive, Technology and Data, ACC Michael brings extensive experience in data, digital and technology leadership and delivery, in both the private and public sectors. He has spent the past seven years in the health sector and is a highly regarded sector leader. Publicly recognised in 2021, Michael was named in the Top 10 Chief Information Officers in New Zealand, receiving a Public Service Medal in 2022 for his service during the pandemic. Prior to joining ACC, he was Director Sector Digital Channels at Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand. Prior to that he was Acting Chief Information Officer at Contact Energy and Chief Technology Officer at the Ministry of Health. During this period, Michael was also the Covid Technology Lead where he established and led the national contact tracing service. He has a Master of Forestry Science from Canterbury University and lives in Wellington with his wife Meredith, three teenage daughters and Border Terrier dog Monty. He enjoys anything outdoors including trail running, mountain biking and boating.
John McPherson

With extensive experience across insurance, fintech, governance, and emerging technologies, he specialises in aligning secure, customer-centric technology investment with business growth and regulatory requirements. John brings deep expertise in integration, AI governance, and digital ecosystem enablement, alongside practical entrepreneurial insight from the cybersecurity sector. His leadership focuses on shaping resilient, future-ready insurance capabilities for New Zealand.
