Event description

Join us from 25-27 March 2025 for two significant Dementia Education events - a 2-day workshop followed by a 1 day symposium. You are most welcome to attend one or both events.  Tickets are also available for those who cannot attend the workshop and/or symposium but would like to attend the evening screening of the documentary "Human Forever".

Day 1 & 2:Dementia Beyond Drugs - Changing the Culture of Care” workshop, facilitated by Dr Al Power M.D., geriatrician, international speaker and award-winning author, and Jessica Kuh Lim, a recognized trail blazer in changing the culture of care in ageing services in Canada.

Based upon Dr Al Power's award-winning books, "Dementia Beyond Drugs" and "Dementia Beyond Disease", this workshop is designed to introduce the concept of person-directed care, together with a well-being framework for people living with dementia, using an experiential approach rather than a medical approach.

Day 2 Evening (7:00-8:30pm) - Screening of "Human Forever" - award winning film on dementia care by Teun Toebes & Jonathan de Jong

24-year-old humanitarian activist Teun Toebes has a mission: to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia. He has been living in the closed ward of a nursing home for years when he decides to take this mission to the next level.
In an adventurous three-year journey across four continents and through 11 countries, Teun takes you on a disarming and impressive quest around the world in which he looks for answers for the future.

Day 3: "Creating Inclusive Communities for People Living With Dementia" Symposium

This one-day event will bring together leaders from various sectors to unlock pathways for inclusion. Guided by "Five Positive Pathways to Inclusion™", developed by Dr. Power in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Carson and Pat Sprigg, we’ll share strategies, learn from a panel of industry leaders, and co-create actionable plans for building communities where people of all abilities can thrive.
