Mon, 17 Mar, 5:30pm - 7:30pm AEDT

Event description

Bill Browne is The Australia Institute's (TAI) Director, Democracy and Accountability Program. As we approach the next federal election, join us for a discussion about TAI's Democracy Agenda for the 48th Parliament, which identifies 13 major reforms that would improve parliamentary debate, government accountability and openness, and the operation of integrity institutions.

Three of the reforms would improve the deliberations of the 48th Parliament of Australia and make other reforms more achievable. These reforms could be agreed to at the beginning of the 48th Parliament, perhaps during negotiations between the crossbench and the major parties in the event of a power-sharing parliament in which no one party wins a majority of seats.

This is an informal locally focused event run by Active Democracy Bean on the third Monday of the month. People gather from 5.30pm, with a speaker and Q&A from 6pm. Hope to see you there for a drink and a chat on this very timely topic!
