Event description

For more decades than he cares to remember, Dennis Newlyn has graced the pages of countless publications and the airwaves of myriad radio and TV stations across the globe as a prominent speedway writer, publisher and historian, as well as a Sydney daily newspaper speedway correspondent.

Passionate about the written word and all things journalism-related, Dennis has enjoyed a 60-year career as a motorsports journalist. He has covered everything from small-town club events to the US Indy 500. He has consistently contributed to major outlets such as Sydney's Daily Telegraph, Seven and Nine television networks, and radio stations 2WS (WSFM) 2GB and 2UE. In the late 2000s, he also hosted his own show on 2SM.

Join us at Liverpool Regional Museum as Dennis looks back on his life as a journalist, from his early days as the speedway correspondent for the Bankstown Torch to publishing his own magazine and beyond.

This talk is presented in association with the Liverpool Regional Museum's free exhibition, 'I Read The News Today, Oh Boy'. Fairfax Media Photographic Archive (1960–1990).
