‘Departure’ is a runway show conceived and presented by local fashion brand Briggs & Thomas as proud participants in the 2023 PayPal Melbourne Festivals Fashion Culture Program. Fashion designer Melody Briggs and artist Kylie Thomas have fused art and fashion to create this exciting show.The venue ‘Bellucci Bar’ sets the tone for an intimate and exclusive runway parade that you will immediately feel a part of. The beautiful gallery long bar with double seating and broody feel is the backdrop for the show aptly named after Italian fashion modeland actress Monica Bellucci. As the venue fills the verve and anticipation will be present awaiting the exciting show to begin. The lights will change, the music will engulf you and you will be transported into the world of ‘Departure’. Expect to be inspired by the colours of the sea and surrounds portrayed strongly in the Ventnor capsule of flowing and relaxed effortlessly chic resort wear and then depart and be mesmerised into the hues and complimentary colour ways of theirAutumn/Winter capsule ‘Melbournia’ debut reveal that evening. Both capsules fabric designs are from the paintings by the artistKylie Thomas transformed again and again within fashion designer Melody Briggs silhouettes. The original paintings will be part of the show and you can meet the artistic duo Melody and Kylie of Briggs & Thomas. They acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where they work and live, the people of the nation and pay their respects to Elders past and present.
