Event description

From bedroom startup to global boardroom, Derek Handley has helped shape New Zealand’s entrepreneurial landscape. He founded The Hyperfactory straight out of university, scaled it to New York City, and sold it to media giant Meredith Corporation. Since then, he’s served on the boards of Air New Zealand and Sky TV, taught social entrepreneurship at AUT and Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, and collaborated on sustainability initiatives with Sir Richard Branson and Prince Harry.

Now, Derek is now on a mission to help more Kiwis into their first homes—faster. Through Aera, his latest venture, and a brand-new book that challenges long-held beliefs about homeownership, Derek is opening up fresh conversations and practical solutions.

Join us at Ministry of Awesome for an intimate and thought-provoking lunchtime session. Derek will share:
💡 His personal founder journey and what drives him now
📘 Insights from his new book that reframe how we think about owning a home
🚀 What it takes to build ventures that solve big, real-world problems

Whether you’re a founder, future homeowner, or just curious about challenging the status quo—this is a rare opportunity to connect with one of NZ’s most boundary-pushing thinkers.

🎟️ Spaces are very limited – register now to secure your seat.
