Design Industry Speed Mentoring Event

Hunt & Co., Ladies that UX and Brisbane UX are coming together to host a speed mentoring event to connect the best UX and product leaders with up and coming industry leaders. 

In this industry evening, we will be bringing 40 mentors and 40 mentees together to experience 6 x 10-minute rounds of introductions and career discussions. 

Mentoring is for everyone - not only for executives or sports stars! Come along and meet some like-minded designers to soundboard your career goals, learn some new skills, clarify design questions or simply make some fun new friends. 

How does it work?

We will connect 40 mentors and 40 mentees to experience 6 x 10-minute rounds of introductions and career discussions through a (not so) fancy coloured sticker system. Every 10 minutes, we'll get you to wrap up your conversation and move on to the next match. We'll match mentors and mentees based on the mentor's experience/expertise and the mentees' interest areas. 

Want to mentor? 

We're seeking 40 mentors who have at least 3 + years of professional experience in Design, Product, UX and/or UI fields. That might mean you've held roles like: 

• Senior UX/UI Designer
• Senior UI Designer 
• Senior UX Designer 
• Head of Product
• Head of Design 
• Product Designer 
• UX / UI Designer 
• UX Designer 
• UI Designer 
• or maybe you have the experience to Mentor but don't have a senior title!  

As a mentor, you'll be speaking to mentees about careers in design - this might include questions about the industry, what different design portfolios look like, how you got to where you are today, how to create a killer portfolio, the difference between UX and UI design, how to become a <insert fancy job title here>, how to interview well.. the list goes on, but don't worry, we don't expect you to be able to answer all of the questions! This is a relaxed, conversational event focused on sharing your lived experience to help junior designers find their way in the industry so anything you can share will be valuable. 

Want to be mentored? 

We're seeking 40 mentees who have a genuine passion for learning and professional development - no Design, Product or UX and / or UI experience required! That might mean you're: 

• A design school graduate looking for your first role 
• A uni graduate interested in design 
• A UX / UI designer in your first 1-3 years of your career keen to understand whats next
• A developer looking to get into UX / UI 
• In another role but keen to get your start in design 
• or maybe you have another situation but are interested to learn from more experienced designers! 

Whilst you will be meeting more senior designers in the industry, this isn't a career fair. This event is focused on helping you find your way in a design career - so bring all your burning questions and curiosities to our speed mentoring session and hear the lived experience of others.

Where: Rex Labs - 29B Helen Street, Newstead 4006 (Brisbane, QLD) 

What: A speed mentoring event hosted by Hunt & Co. to connect the leading and up and coming UX, UI, Product and Design talent.
We'll bring the pizza, wine & beer. You bring the insight!
