5:00pm-6:00pm - Creative Technologies Showcase, UniSC Maker Space

6:00pm-7:30pm – Sensing Environments: Audio-visual performance, LT2

Join us outside the UniSC Art Gallery to explore locative media installations and watch a series of large scale projections accompanied by the dusk chorus of rainbow lorikeets. The projections feature work from students in DES103 Fundamentals of Photography, DES204 Photographic Narratives and DES304 Sensing Environments. Visit the UniSC Maker Space from 5pm to experience new work and a creative technology and digital culture showcase featuring VR, AR and interactive experiences.

At 6pm, the showcase will move to LT2 (Lecture Theatre 2) for a new series of audio-visual works created by students in DES304 Sensing Environments. These works explore ecosystems across the Sunshine Coast with original sound, photography and video created with new technologies and emerging methods for understanding and sensing places and landscapes. The theme of these works in 2023 is "Living in the Biosphere"

Creative Technologies Showcase: UniSC Maker Space

Curated by a team of students in BCI304 Creative Engagement, join us for interactive demonstrations and hands on experiences exploring the creative possibilities of new technologies and digital culture in the UniSC Maker Space.

Sensing Environments: Locative Media

Explore a new series of locative media experience at UniSC Sunshine Coast featuring original photography and soundscapes geo-located in immersive walks across campus. This exhibition explores new ways to connect to the environment through mobile technologies. Please download the free app Echoes.XYZ (for iOS and Android) and bring headphones and your mobile device.

Sensing Environments: Locative Media is a virtual exhibition running June 5 – July 1, hosted in collaboration with the UniSC Art Gallery. The experiences are located across campus and you can collect a program and map from the UniSC Art Gallery foyer and explore the works anytime on campus.

Design at UniSC is an interdisciplinary program with dynamic pathways that encourage students to discover their creativity and develop critical thinking through experimentation in an inclusive and exploratory environment. Through project-based learning and collaborations, students discover the increasingly important role design plays in the world, with opportunities to specialise in interactive media, digital culture, game design or visual communication. This versatile interdisciplinary program equips students with theoretical knowledge, creative skills, cultural awareness and critical thinking to imagine and shape a future that is changing rapidly by design.
