Designathon and PitchFest @ Spark Festival
Event description
Spark Festival - Australia's largest event for start-ups, innovators and entrepreneurs - this year features a very special event for high school students.
Enter a high school team for this year’s designathon and pitchfest hosted by Atlassian – the largest Australian software company and facilitated by Young Change Agents who help young people see problems as opportunities through the lens of social entrepreneurship!
What is it?
An immersive, fast and fun day where high school students use a design thinking approach to solve a problem, ideate potential solutions, create a business model and prototype their idea with the help of Atlassian mentors. In the evening they will have a chance to pitch their idea to the start-up community, family and friends for feedback.Â
Want to get involved?
Put together 1-2 teams of 5 students per team and register quickly to get involved! It’s open to all high schools in greater Sydney and is free to be involved.Â
We are strong believers in diversity and would encourage students of all backgrounds, talents and interest to attend.
Avoid disappointment and register your group now as space is limited and this event will sell out.
Industry/Entrepreneurs/Educators/Family/Friends are invited to hear the teams pitch at 5-7pm. Please also register for a ticket!
What's the program for the day?
Students will firstly work in teams to identify and understand a problem they care about and its root causes. They will then go through a creative process to ideate and determine a solution for which they will create a business model using a social lean canvas.Â
In the afternoon the teams will work on validating their idea and prototyping a solution before getting ready to pitch their idea in the evening!
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take a tour of Atlassian to experience what it’s like to work at a tech company.
