The Naval Store, AUGMNT and Immerse Australia present 'Designing the Metaverse', a free event featuring a panel discussion and live demonstrations.

Featuring local experts in the realms of virtual reality, augmented reality and immersive technologies, the panel will discuss the Metaverse, what it is and its potential challenges and opportunities.

Who will design the metaverse? Whose responsibility will it be? What role do we all play? How can we ensure an equitable future for all digital citizens?

This event will be held from 2pm to 5pm with a one-hour panel commencing at 3pm.

Panel
Dr Laura Glitsos (Moderator): Teaching and Research Academic at Edith Cowan University with a speciality in cultural studies, media studies, gender studies and popular music studies. Her first sole-authored book is published through Palgrave Macmillan, Somatechnics and Popular Music in Digital Cultures.

Tristan Morgan
: Designer, researcher, and educator who specialises in digital tools and processes. Through this lens, his work engages with advanced manufacturing and assembly, human-machine interfaces, design for carbon zero, transdisciplinarity and the future of practice, strategic foresight and speculative futures, design theory and history, and ethical, sustainable, and ecological design approaches.

Andy Thomson
: Systemic Designer passionate about assisting cross-sector stakeholders appreciate and address our complex 21st Century challenges by going beyond nursing symptoms and asking questions of the short-term objectives and deeper factors that often underpin them. Founder of Systemic Innovation Consultancy Holonic. Co-Founder of multidisciplinary VR/AR alliance AUGMNT.

Natalie Marinho: Augmented Reality Designer with a particular interest in creative applications of emerging technologies. Passionate about the intersection between people, design and technology. Founder and Creative Director of Voyant Augmented Reality, a creative studio developing augmented reality experiences for social impact projects and creative industries. Chair Immerse Australia.

Immerse Australia is a national association for professionals and people interested in Extended Reality (XR) including software, hardware, products and services related to virtual reality, augmented reality, 360 video and immersive technology.

AUGMNT is an evolving initiative exploring immersive spaces and solutions to bridge the gap between people, technology and the future.

The Naval Store is a heritage-listed warehouse built in Fremantle for the Australian Navy in 1935. It is a unique industrial space that hosts events, studios, festivals and exhibitions.
