Event description

Do you have a business idea that you would love to bring to life? Join us at the Young Entrepreneurs Hub in June where we will be working to help you build and launch your own business.

Over two action-packed days, we will be working with high school students to build their own businesses as part of the Young Entrepreneurs Hub. With the program hosted at the WeWork Co-Working Space in Brisbane City, and facilitated by the BOP team of expert facilitators, this is a great opportunity for young people looking to bring their business ideas to life.

For our program on the 26th & 27th of June, we will have a specific focus on working with students to get their product or service ready to sell. Over the course of the two days, we will organise specialised masterclasses and expert mentors to work with students as we help students prototype and plan their product and service, identify key costs and potential pricing models, and explore the concept of a low cost minimum viable product (MVP) to get them started.

Prototyping And Planning
Having a well thought out product or service is a big part of what can make a business successful. We’ll be working with students to prototype and design their product, or plan out their service in order to get it ready for customers.

Costs And Pricing
Designing a great product or service is half the battle, with the other half in finding ways to keep your costs down, and profits up. After the prototyping and planning phase, we’ll then be working with students to figure out how much it will cost them to offer this product or service, before then looking at some pricing models they can use to ensure they’re making a healthy profit without pricing themselves out of the market.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
When first building a business, you want to get your product or service out to your customers as soon as possible. Whilst building a fully developed product can take time and money, we love to work with students to develop a minimum viable product (MVP). These are small scale products or services that cost less than $100 to develop. Whilst they may not have all the features, they are a great way to validate your idea, start generating revenue, and get feedback from your customers.

Our Young Entrepreneurs Hub Program has been designed for high school students looking to bring their business ideas to life. Over the course of the two days students will be connecting with other like-minded young people, hearing from mentors in the field, and working with the BOP team as we guide them along their business journey.

Each day, students will start with a quick check-in with the BOP team before diving into a masterclass on the focus topic for the day. From there they will be free to work on their business as they apply their newfound knowledge and skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is This Program For?
This program is open to students in Grades 7-12 from across South-East Queensland. We typically only take up to 20 students per program to keep the group small.

Do I Need A Business Idea Already?
We do ask that
students have a business idea before entering the program. Whilst they don't need to have a product or service ready to sell just yet, we do ask that they have a clear idea on what they would like their business to do.

What Do Students Need To Bring?
Students will need to bring a device (preferably a laptop) to work on over the course of the program. In addition to this, we ask that they bring morning tea and lunch each day. All other equipment will be provided.

When Will The Program Run?
The program will run from 9am - 3pm on Monday the 26th and Tuesday the 27th of June 2023. Students are welcome to arrive from 8:30am and can stay until 4pm should they wish.

How Do Students Get To The Venue?
The program will take place at 310 Edward Street. There are plenty of public transport options nearby with Central Station across the road, and the Queen Street and King George Square Bus Stations a 5 minute walk away. There is also a pick up and drop off zone by the 'Adina Hotel' across the road.
