Event description

Developing self-regulation in people with autism:

Professional Development In Focus Workshop

Developing self-regulation in people with autism is essential for success in the home, community, and educational settings. This session, presented by an experienced Autism Consultant, will outline what self-regulation is, why self-regulation is so important, and how we can realistically and practically enhance self-regulation to improve the quality of life for a person on the autism spectrum. The focus of the workshop will be on the three core components of self-regulation:

  • Executive Functioning (self-control);
  • Sensory Regulation; and
  • Emotional Regulation.

Throughout the workshop the presenter will use discussion, activities and videos to deliver information specific to this topic that will enhance the participants’ knowledge of autism and provide strategies in relation to self-regulation, to enable them to give effective support, inclusion and outcomes.

Suitable for professionals supporting all ages

    All participants will receive a certificate with the workshop title, the number of hours and will state that the training links to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (where appropriate).
