Development Roadmap: Online Workshop Series
Description
A great idea is only the starting point. Development is how it grows into a project that knows its audience, excites partners, and gains real traction. It's a skill you can learn and this live online workshop series breaks down the development process across three focused weekly sessions.
Join us online for a new lunchtime workshop series led by development producer and professional screenwriter, Nicole Delprado.
Nicole has pitched to funders, secured development funding across film, TV and digital, and read hundreds of project submissions. This series is everything she wishes someone had told her at the start.
Each workshop includes a 1-hour workshop plus additional time set aside to answer any questions you may have about development.
It's live, practical and beginner friendly. You'll leave with a real roadmap for developing your project, and the confidence to follow it.
Development Roadmap Workshop Series
Session 1: The Pitch.
12-1:30pm Thursday 1 October
How to talk about your project with clarity and confidence and how to build a pitch deck that's strong, exciting and easy to say yes to.
In this session we’ll look at real pitch decks that have actually received development funding and run through what makes a strong face-to-face pitch. You’ll leave with a clear structure for a verbal pitch that has a proven success rate, which you can apply to your own projects.
Session 2: The Money.
12-1:30pm Thursday 8 October
How to approach development funding applications and budgets, and the common mistakes that can quietly tank strong projects.
In this session we will explore how to best scaffold a project and the reality of what happens in early development, and how to communicate your plan for development. We’ll also break down how to write up a real development budget; what to include and why. All participants will receive a development budget template.
Session 3: The Producing Strategy.
12-1:30pm Thursday 15 October
Scripts, strategy, and pulling it all together. How to think like a development producer so your project keeps moving forward, with or without a yes.
In this session we’ll unpack the real work involved in getting a project off the ground, looking at pathways in film, television and online. We'll talk about markets: what are they, why should you attend, and which ones should you go to? Knowing what comes next in the producing timeline is crucial, so your project doesn’t get stuck in development hell. You’ll leave with real-world, actionable steps you can take right now to keep momentum up for your project.
Join us online for three jam-packed lunchtime sessions in October to master your development strategy and get your next project green lit sooner.
