Devonport Community Forum: Draft National Disability Advocacy Framework 2022-2025
Event description
Join us for a community forum to have your say on the draft National Disability Advocacy Framework 2022-2025.
Disability advocacy helps to protect the rights of people with disability. It supports them to take part in the community and have a say in decisions that affect them.
The Department of Social Services is holding community forums to get feedback on a new draft National Disability Advocacy Framework 2022-2025.
Please note:Â We are working with Auslan interpreter services to try to secure in-person Auslan interpreters wherever possible. However, for this event Auslan will be provided remotely via video link. All events include live captioning.
About the Framework
The Framework aims to ensure all people with disability can access effective advocacy services and support in a changing environment.
It is a shared commitment between federal, state and territory governments to improving access and outcomes for people with disability.
Who should attend the forum?
The forum is for people with disability and their families, carers and advocates to talk about and provide input on what is important to improve and include in the new Framework.
How to take part in the forum
Please register to take part in the community forum. If you are bringing a family member or carer to support you, please ask them to register too.
The forum will run for up to 2 hours and will include a presentation with group discussion, break, and interactive discussion. There will be a range of ways for you to provide input.
During the forum, we will use an online engagement tool called Mentimeter. You will be given a code to access the questions in menti.com during the forum.
If you have accessibility requirements, please tell us about these when registering. Auslan and live captioning is available. Auslan is being provided however due to availability of Auslan interpreters, majority will attend remotely via video link
What will the forums cover?Â
This is an opportunity to have your say on the new Framework, including:
- Sharing experiences of advocacy
- Commenting on the Framework principles and commitments
- Telling us what you think is needed in the current and future disability environment.
