Dharawal Water Dreaming cultural tour
Event description
Join proud Aboriginal woman Latoya Brown, descendant of the Dhawarral, Walbunja, Djiringanj and Gunai/Kurnai peoples, on a journey along the beaches of the Kamay Bay National Park, visiting and exploring her people's coastal fishing spots and learning about their traditional aquaculture practices.
This activity requires some physical challenges, including walking up and down stairs to and from Congwong Beach, walking on sand and walking on unsteady, uneven and slippery surfaces during the tour.
Wear closed-in shoes, sunhat, long sleeve top and bring a water bottle. Maximum 30 people per tour.
Conditions of booking
- Minimum age 8 years
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian
- Parents or adult guardians accompanying children need to pay.
Latoya Brown, owner of Kadoo Indigenous Experiences is a young innovative, passionate and talented Aboriginal entrepreneur and Small Indigenous Business owner. Kadoo Indigenous Experiences was started by Latoya's father Tim Ella in 2016 and has expanded from showcasing Aboriginal Culture through, on country tours for tourism, to now Cultural Experiences for Business, Schools/Universities and Corporations.
COVID-19
Do not attend on the day if you are:
- experiencing any flu-like symptoms (sore throat, loss of taste/smell, runny nose, persistent cough, shortness of breath, fever)
- awaiting the results of a test for COVID-19
- have been directed by NSW Health to isolate.
Please assist in keeping all participants safe during the event, by observing instructions provided by Council staff or signage.

Photographs, videos and voice recordings
Randwick City Council staff may on occasion take recordings of participants during activities (including photographs, videos and voice recordings) that could be used for the following purposes:
- educational or community information purpose
- Council displays and promotions of community education events
- to complement the promotion of Randwick's Marine and Coastal Program.
If you DO NOT wish for the participant’s recording to be used according to these conditions, please indicate this during the booking process.
Cancellation conditions
This activity may be cancelled due to insufficient bookings, NSW COVID-19 health orders or poor weather. Participants will be advised in the event the activity changes or cancellation occurs. All care has been made in the preparation of the 2023 Marine and Coastal Discovery Program but some changes may occur due to circumstances beyond the control of Randwick City Council. Refunds will be provided for paid activities that are cancelled 48 hrs prior to the event start and in the event of cancellation by Council.
