Diaspora Presents: Groove
Event description
The Diaspora Collective caps off its first season of dance by digging through the archives and taking things back to where it all began.
Celebrating all things disco and funk, our resident DJs will boogie their way through the ages of house music, from its birthplace in Chicago during the early 1980s all the way to the modern groovy sounds of today.
Just a 10-minute walk away from Central, join us for a night of Nu-Disco, Chicago House, French House and Soulful House at Harpoon Harry's on April 27th.

Siki
Coming from Sydney’s inner west is Siki, a man who’s always eager to keep the groove going. With a curated blend of traditional house, soul and disco, he’ll make sure that your hips wont be telling any fibs whatsoever.
DJ XOLO
Sydney's DJ XOLO can blow the top off any kind of party - and does so on a regular basis. You can regularly find him playing disco at Ivy Pool, hip hop at The Gladstone, a classic funk set for Vivid Festival or pumping out joyous house music in a soccer stadium in Vanuatu. With plans for a European tour in 2025, XOLO will be hard to miss in the months ahead as he strives to unite the people of earth with ass-shaking bangers. "Music is life" says XOLO and we couldn't agree more.
Davinji
Fusing the complexity of intricate breaks, twisted nature of dark techno and euphoric synths of lofi house music, 'Diaspora Collective' cofounder Davinji creates an eclectic, introspective experience for his listeners. His style incorporates soulful vocal loops and bass-centric percussion to establish atmospheric presence, taking the Sydney electronic scene on a journey into the unknown.
Pixel Chick
Pixel Chick, emerging Eora based DJ plays with a selection of sounds. Bouncy, percussive, sexy, cosmic, often hinting to nostalgia. Whether that be paying tribute to 90s house and speed garage, clubby 00s bops or trancey electronica. Her dynamic and evolving taste makes for emotive sets infused with euphoria.
Kai Kawai
In a world of rising BPM’s, Kai Kawai is a breath of fresh air. Bringing sleek, elegant, bouncy fun. That’s exactly what you get when she’s bringing the tunes. Focusing on groove rather than speed, she has cemented herself as one of Sydney’s go to warm up specialists over the last year. The tunes are certified to make you bounce and bop your way into the night.
Cricket
Living on Cadigal land, Cricket is a dynamic producer and DJ. It’s hard to pin down her favoured genres specifically - she has a penchant for disco and world music, but in later settings she delves into deep house and prog, switching between her personas with ease. Her preference for bouncy and intricate textures keep bodies moving, energised by her reliably curated tracks. Cricket's fidelity to vinyl not only distinguishes her sets but enriches them, offering a tactile experience that allows her to share her artistic vision with precision and finesse. With supports including Dan Shake, Toy Tonics and Ezra Collective, she plays across Eora most weekends in between her work at APRA AMCOS.
Kowojay
Dharawal-based and fairly fresh on the scene, kowojay has been spinning tracks and making moves across Wollongong and Sydney over the last year. From dirty nightclub dancefloors to vibrant poolside bars, she brings a little boogie to everyone in every flavour. Genres don't matter to this selector; kowojay's energy and passion for serving up the unexpected in every set will leave you wanting more.
