You don't fail at dieting, dieting fails you.

If you're like us you're sick of 'good' vs 'bad' food', the constant pressure to look a certain way and the pervasive fatphobia perpetuated by diet culture

But what is diet culture?

Diet culture refers to the set of beliefs about valuing body shape and appearance above physical, psychological and general health and well-being. It reinforced the binary idea of ‘good’ versus ‘bad’ food, looks and activities often causing mental and emotional turmoil. It also normalises deprecating speech and ‘fat talk’, which are negative comments on weight and food choices.

This Mental Health March, the Butterfly Foundation invites the UNSW community to a lunch and learn panel on the topic of diet culture on Tuesday 22 March, 12:30-1:30 pm!

Come learn more about it by registering now.

Mental Health March is created by UNSW Health Promotions Unit and aims to encourage the UNSW community to engage in conversations surrounding the often challenging topics of mental health and wellbeing. The team offer workshops, resources and mental health services to all UNSW Students and Staff.

If you or someone you know needs some support with their mental health, you can contact the Psychology and Wellness team via Mental Health Connect.
