Working with Deaf Clients in a Digital-First World (BSL/ISL CPD)
Description
Working with Deaf Clients in a Digital-First World
Date: 25 October 2026
Time: 10:00–12:00
About this session
Digital services are not always designed with Deaf users in mind, creating new accessibility challenges that interpreters must understand and navigate. This session explores barriers within digital platforms, the limitations of AI and automated communication tools, and the evolving role of interpreters in supporting communication access.
Participants will be encouraged to critically examine how technology is shaping communication and accessibility within Deaf communities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Recognise common accessibility barriers within digital systems and platforms.
Evaluate the limitations of AI and automated tools in supporting Deaf communication.
Adapt their practice to better support communication access beyond traditional interpreting roles.
