About Take It To The Streets

The future of digital inclusion work will not be conducted in fancy halls, pristine ivory towers, or conference rooms. Sustained digital inclusion work will happen, and is currently happening, in libraries, adult education centers, club halls, workplaces, and makeshift community spaces. Attendees of Upward Connections’ Take It To The Streets: Empowering Community-Based Responses to Our Digital Age can expect programming designed to spark action, empower local leadership, and equip community partners with opportunities to contribute to statewide solutions.

Taking digital inclusion to the “streets” means meeting communities where they are and closing the digital divide from the ground up through resiliency training and education. By practicing this way, we honor community, culture, and local strengths. Upward Connection posits that when we honor local culture and leverage existing community strengths to tackle the digital divide, we empower people to adapt, thrive, and lead in an ever-changing digital landscape.
