The News and Media Research Centre at the University of Canberra is proud to launch the Digital News Report: Australia 2022 in partnership with the Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas.

This report is part of a long-running international survey coordinated by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University. The News and Media Research Centre at the University of Canberra is the Australian partner institute. This is the eighth annual DNR Australia report.

This year’s report will examine how news consumers are switching back to pre-pandemic news consumption habits as well as how Australians view crucial issues such as climate change reporting, motivations to access news, and their perceptions about news partisanship and polarisation.

Sora Park, Professorial Research Fellow and lead author of the report, will highlight the key findings from this year’s study and Kerry McCallum, Professor and Director of the News & Media Research Centre, will host a discussion with our expert panel:

    • Genevieve Jacobs, Region Media
    • James Joyce, Australian Community Media
    • Hal Crawford, Crawford Media
    • Peter Lewis, Essential Media
