Moort Calling Dingo Back to Country + Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool – Short Film Premieres & Panel Conversation
6:00pm–8:30pm | Luna Leederville, Perth

Join us for a special double-screening event featuring two powerful short films — led by the premiere of Moort Calling Dingo Back to Country, followed by Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool. The films will be follow by a discussion panel and audience Q&A.

Moort Calling Dingo Back to Country

The evening opens with the premiere of Moort, a moving story that brings forward the deep cultural, spiritual, and familial connection between First Nations people and the Dingo.

Across south-west Western Australia, Moort means family — and that is what Dingo is: kin.

The film illuminates the enduring relationship between Cultural Custodians and Australia’s only wild canid, while also revealing the profound loss felt in places where Dingoes have been eradicated through government-sanctioned programs. Even where they are physically absent, the Dingo remains present in Songlines, stories, and spirit — and the call for his return grows stronger.

As attitudes shift globally toward valuing predators for their irreplaceable ecological roles, Moort invites audiences to consider Australia’s own path forward. It is a call to ensure Dingoes — culturally significant, ecologically vital — are respected and protected for generations to come.

Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool

Following Moort, we will screen Wooleen: Utilising Dingoes as a Management Tool — a Landholders for Dingoes short film offering a rare look into how some pastoralists are re-examining the role of Dingoes on station country.
Their experience demonstrates how maintaining healthy dingo populations can support landscape balance, biodiversity, and pasture regeneration.

Panel + Audience Q&A

After both screenings, stay for a dingo discussion panel followed by an audience Q&A.
Panelists and full run times will be announced soon.
