Australia’s most respected wine critic and Melbourne’s master of French cuisine are teaming up for one night only. Join us at Frédéric on Thursday February 16, 2023 for a truly special evening with old friends, James Halliday AM and French-Australian chef Jacques Reymond.
Frédéric Bistro, located in the heart of Cremorne in Melbourne, will provide a European-style setting for the evening that will see Reymond designing a French menu using the finest local and seasonal ingredients.
The night will include canapés and sparkling to start the evening, followed by a selection of entrees and mains. The menu will be matched to 15 carefully curated wines. Across five brackets, you will taste some of the finest wines from around the country – each one a favourite of James’ from 2022.
James and Jacques will draw from their years of experience, and will guide you through the food and wine elements of the evening, while sharing stories from their celebrated careers.

About Jacques Reymond
Chef, restaurateur and consultant, Jacques Reymond commenced his career at the age of eleven, in his family’s ‘Hotel du Nord’ in Cuiseaux. He has crafted his skills in many locations around the world, including Lake Geneva, Paris, Madrid and Manaus in Brazil before settling in Australia. Today, he works with his four children across Melbourne restaurants, Bistro Gitan and L’Hôtel Gitan and Frédéric.
About James Halliday AM
Respected wine critic and vigneron James Halliday is the founder of Halliday Wine Companion. With a wine career spanning over 50 years, he was one of the founders of Brokenwood in the Hunter Valley, and later, Coldstream Hills in the Yarra Valley. James is an unmatched authority on all aspects of the wine industry, and for more than 30 years was among the most senior and active wine judges in Australia. He has won a clutch of awards for his contributions, including the Australian wine industry's ultimate accolade, the Maurice O'Shea Award. In 2010 he was made of Member of the Order of Australia for his services to the wine industry. James has written or contributed to over 80 books on wine since 1970 and has written a weekly wine column for Australian newspapers since 1978.
