Dinners of Selwyn Matariki
Event description
Dinners of Selwyn invites people to bring and share delicious international food and Kiwi kai, celebrate Selwyn’s diversity and tell their stories of coming to Selwyn.
As the dinner in July is being held during Matariki, guests are invited to bring along their favourite recipes that use berries and fruit, as we are celebrating the fourth star, Tupuārangi, which is associated with food that comes from the sky and is connected to the harvesting of elevated foods such as winter berries and fruits.
Community garden ambassador Rachel Vogan from the Canterbury Community Gardens Association will share insights into what community gardens do and how to get involved.
Playing games is also a big part of Matariki, so make sure you bring along your favourite family games to enjoy with everyone.
This is an alcohol free event and families are welcome.
