Dinosaur Discovery at The Caves

About this event

This session is presented by an Education Officer from Bunurong Coast Education . You will see fault lines from ancient earthquakes and petrified trees from the age of the dinosaurs, followed by rock breaking to possibly find a fossil yourself.

Meet at the Bunurong Environment Centre at the corner of Ramsey Blvd and The Esplanade in Inverloch. Following an introduction to the activity and a safety briefing the group will go to The Caves on the Cape Paterson-Inverloch Rd about six kilometres away. Participants will need their own transport and footwear suitable for the rock platform. Warm clothing will be needed in cooler weather and sun protection should be worn.

After visiting the beach, rock breaking is conducted at the Wallace Avenue Community Park in Inverloch. Rock breaking hammers supplied or BYO. The Education Officer will provide you with directions to The Caves beach and Wallace Avenue Community park during the briefing.

Please Note:

All attendees including adults accompanying children, all children, including those under 5 years old and infants must have an entry ticket.
Tickets for children under 5 yrs old and infants are free.
Groups may be up to 25 people.

FAQs

Is there a minimum age requirement?

This activity is suitable for school aged children, teenagers and adults. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a supervising adult who has a ticket. (Please note age requirements are a guide only).

What do I need to bring?

You will need sturdy shoes for walking on wet and slippery ground, appropriate clothing and protection for the weather, a hat, sunscreen, water and your own transport from the Bunurong Environment Centre in Inverloch to the field site.

What if the weather is bad?

Our activities go ahead if it is drizzling. However, if the weather conditions pose a threat to the safety of participants we will cancel and refund your ticket fee. In this event, we will email you so please monitor your email if the weather is bad.

When do bookings close?

Bookings close an hour before the event. However, if there are insufficient bookings, the session may be cancelled a day beforehand. So best to book early to make sure it happens.

What is the refund policy?

If you cancel your ticket through Humanitix, you will be entitled to a full refund, provided you cancel at least 7 days before the event.

If we haven't sold enough tickets to cover our costs prior to the event we will cancel the activity, email you and refund your money. We may also need to cancel this event if unforeseen circumstances mean our presenter is unable to come or the weather turns nasty. If we cancel the event, we provide a full refund.

The website advises that tickets are available, but won't process my booking?

There are 25 tickets available for this session but the ratio of tickets available to adults/children/children under 5 is set within that total to ensure that everyone in the group is able to fully enjoy the session. If you are not able to process a booking it may be because the limit for tickets available for either children or children under 5 has already been reached. Please add your details, including the tickets you would like, to the Waitlist.
