DIR®/Floortime 101 Certificate with Applied Strategies in schools
Event description
Title: DIR/Floortime101 – The nuts and Bolts of it!
When: December 9, 10, 2022
Description: The Developmental Individual Differences, Relationship Model (DIR) is a profound way of working with children, adolescents, and adults in a way that harnesses their affect to drive their intention and motivation to grow and learn. This workshop will cover the 6 developmental milestones of Dr. Stanley Greenspan’s model of understanding the functional emotional capacities in typical children, applied to children with special needs. He started this model to target children on the autism spectrum, though it is widely used with multiple diagnostic categories in different ages and stages today. Together we will discover the importance of relationship, affect, and harnessing intrinsic motivation within the child to learn and grow. The attendee will leave the workshop equipped with ideas, techniques and practical information that could be used the very next day. The DIR/Floortime model is very complimentary to many models, including the model of Sensory Integration and is not restricted to a certain age group. Professionals working in schools and pre-school settings, as well as private practice, will find this model helpful in understanding different behaviors. Strategies will be shared to support learning behavior.
This workshop is approved through the ICDL (Interdisciplinary Council for Developmental and Learning Disorders) and will set the course for becoming certificated in this model through ICDL.
A certificate of attendance will be awarded by ICDL.
Your ticket is inclusive of Morning tea, Lunch, Afternoon tea and free-flow coffee/tea and snacks.

Title: Applied Strategies of DIR/Floortime in the School System
When: December 11, 2022
Description: How does one apply the Developmental Individual Differences, Relationship Model (DIR) in the school system? How do you assess behavior in a developmental frame that makes sense to education? Is DIR only about “play” and does it hold any educational relevance at all? This workshop will use the 6 developmental milestones of Dr. Stanley Greenspan’s and provide clinical and educational reasoning with regards to applying this model in the school system. The attendee will receive an assessment questionnaire and video analysis will be used to support the learning curve. The DIR/Floortime model is very complimentary to many teaching models, including utilizing “teachable moments”, and the model of Sensory Integration and is not restricted to a certain age group. Professionals working in schools and pre-school settings, as well as private practice, will find this assessment tool and intervention strategies helpful in understanding different behaviors and targeting educational and clinical reasoning. Strategies will be shared to support learning behavior.
